Salesforce Spring '20 Release - Rose's Top Five Features, Mobile Notice and a Critical Updat

Happy New Year from Big Dog Computing. Wishing you a very productive, prosperous and healthy new year. Things are really busy here at Big Dog so this newsletter will just focus on the Salesforce Spring ’20 release highlights.

The Salesforce Spring ’20 release will be hitting production orgs on February 7th and 14th. Here are my top five highlights in this release, along with a reminder regarding Salesforce Mobile and information on the Google Chrome browser release that could affect your Salesforce integrations.

One of my favorite and eagerly awaited highlights is the ability to Clone items along with their related lists. See below for more details.

1. Clone Items Along with Their Related List: Finally, you can Clone an Opportunity or a Campaign with related record. For Opportunities you can clone Contact Role and Opportunity Products and Line Item Schedules. For Campaigns you can clone a campaign with member statuses. You will need to add the Button Clone with Related to your Opportunity and Campaign Page Layout. This change applies to Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer editions.

2. See the Related Account When You Search for Contacts or Opportunities: Search now allows you to see the Account information when searching for Contacts or Opportunities. Never need to second guess that you have the correct record. This change applies to Lightning Experience, and all editions except Database.com.

3. Task-Queue Assignments: For sales organizations where reps work through to-do items as a team, task-queue assignment makes the process easier than ever. Assign a task to any queue and have any member from the queue take ownership. Working as a team is simpler and more efficient. Queue Assignments gives you the ability to assign tasks to a queue just like you do leads and cases. This change applies to Lightning Experience in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer editions.

4. App Launcher Enhancements: The App Launcher enhancements give you the ability to search your apps and items without going into the App Launcher and better visual representation. This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

5. View Event Details Faster Than Ever: Quickly view event details by hovering over the event in the calendar. From the event details you can view more details, edit or delete the event. This change applies to Lightning Experience in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer editions.

Notice: New Salesforce Mobile App: In Spring ’20, all active Salesforce mobile app users, including Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience users get upgraded to the new Salesforce Mobile app. No need to turn on Lightning Experience org preference or assign the New Salesforce Mobile App user permission to access the new app admin or end-user experience. The Salesforce Mobile app is now available to Essentials edition users. This change applies to Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, and the Salesforce mobile app for iOS and Android in all editions, except Database.com.

Navigation bar is now more customizable. In a Lightning app, the first four items of your mobile navigation bar reflect the first four tabs of your desktop navigation bar. I talked about this a lot in our last newsletter so I will not go into detail here but you can review that information in our blog, click here.

Critical Update

This notice is for you especially if you have custom apps or Salesforce integrations. If you are a system administrator in Salesforce, you should have already received this notice. Below are the steps you should follow. You should test each integration after each step.
