Salesforce Summer ’18 Release Highlights

Salesforce Summer ’18 release was rolled out the first two weekends of June. Once again Salesforce out did themselves bringing us this release. I hope you have been able to discover some of the new features. It was very hard to narrow down the ones to share with you in our Summer newsletter. Here is my best shot:

Platform

List Views
Filter by Campaign to Send Precise List Emails

Sales reps can send list emails targeted to a more exact set of recipients by filtering lead and contact list views by campaign membership. For instance, a rep has a list view of customers invited to a trade show. Some customers are part of an executive involvement campaign. Now the rep can easily follow up with customers who have executive sponsors.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Make Inline Edits While Using Filter Logic

Inline editing and filtering logic come together to make your list views more powerful. No setup needed! In Lightning Experience, you can start making inline edits to your list views that use filter logic right away. A few exceptions: Inline editing doesn’t work for multi-record type list views or when the field isn’t editable. Salesforce Classic doesn’t support inline editing with filter logic.

Available in: Lightning Experience for Essential, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Personal Navigation
Personalize the Navigation Bar in Less Time

We’ve made it easier for users to personalize their navigation in Lightning apps. Your users can get back to work in no time with an enhanced user interface. Or, users can simply drag items around the navigation bar to where they want them to quickly adjust the order.

In the enhanced navigation bar editor, it’s easier to search through favorites or all available items to select what to add. The new editor minimizes the need for users to use temporary tabs.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

Search
Get Search Results for More Objects

The List Email object, previously called Mass Email, is now searchable. Case Comments are also searchable.

Available in: Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, and all versions of the mobile app in all editions. Case Comments are searchable in Lightning Experience in Essentials, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Search the Object You Want Easily from Anywhere

When you want to search an object, cut the clutter, and see results only for what you’re searching for, from anywhere in the app. Choose any searchable object in the dropdown list next to the global search box. Enter your search term, and both instant results and full search results are limited to that object.

Available in: Lightning Experience for all editions

Task
Do More with Tasks from the List View

Reps can do much more with tasks now that they can see a list view. Built-in list view filters let reps find tasks quickly, columns are sortable, and reps can apply filters to narrow down what they see.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Personal, Contact Manager, Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Database.com editions.

Create Copies of a Task for Colleagues

When sales reps create a task, they can assign it to other users and groups. Each user gets their own copy of the task. It’s a fast way for reps to create tasks in bulk.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Personal, Contact Manager, Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Database.com editions.

Reports – Lightning new features
Lightning Report Builder – (Generally Available)

Give your users a powerful, intuitive tool for analyzing Salesforce data. The future in reporting has fully arrived with Lightning report builder becoming generally available. You can group, filter, and summarize records to answer business questions like “How much revenue did we generate in the South East last quarter?”; “Which lead source is generating the most closed opportunities?”; and “What is the average age of all open cases?” Lightning Report Builder includes some changes since the last release.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Organizing your Report and Dashboards Folders in Lightning Experience – Sub-Folder

Life can be complicated, but organizing your content just got easier. With subfolders, you can quickly create a logical structure for your report and dashboard folders. The organization can be by region, role, or function, or whatever makes most sense to you. Moving content between folders is also easier.

Available in: These changes apply to Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.

Export Reports, Keep the Formatting

Sometimes sharing your reports with others means exporting them to Microsoft® Excel®. When you export your reports, we ensure that the formatting you worked so hard on stays intact. The exported report also includes column summaries and totals.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Add to Dashboard from the report

Reading a report? Want to add it to a dashboard, or create a new dashboard? Well, we’ve got a button for you!

Available In: This feature is available in Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Sales Cloud

Collaborative Forecasting
Predict Sales More Accurately with Schedule and Product Date Forecasts in Lightning Experience

Let your sales team forecast opportunity revenue and quantity based on schedule and product dates. Forecasting by schedule or product date can provide a more accurate view of expected sales than forecasting by opportunity close date.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Professional, Performance, and Developer editions and in Enterprise and Unlimited editions with the Sales Cloud.

Show Product Family Totals in the Opportunity List

If your sales team forecasts on product families, give your reps a clearer view of where their product family forecast amounts come from. In the opportunity list on the forecasts page, show the product family totals—not just the overall opportunity totals—that roll up into product family forecast amounts.

Available in: Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Professional, Performance, and Developer editions and in Enterprise and Unlimited editions with the Sales Cloud.

Einstein Activity Capture
Give the Gift of Automatic Logging

More sales reps can say goodbye to logging and hello to smarter selling. Users with a Sales Cloud license can use Einstein Activity Capture, which automatically associates emails and events with related Salesforce records. A Sales Cloud Einstein or Inbox license is no longer required.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

Get Smarter About Email with Email Insights in the Activity Timeline

Send the perfect response at the perfect time. With Einstein Activity Capture, users get Einstein Email Insights, which shows critical sales context alongside relevant emails, making it easier to send the perfect response at the perfect time. Sales reps can choose to see only emails with Email Insights or all activities. And they can switch back and forth easily as needs change. Email insights is displayed in the activity timeline and in Inbox.

Available in: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

Service Cloud

Einstein Bots to the Rescue: Boost Service Team Productivity with Bots

Make your service agents’ lives easier with Einstein Bots. Bots can handle routine and repetitive customer requests, freeing your agents to spend their time on more complex issues that are better suited for humans. Does your customer just need an order status? A password reset? Store hours and location? No problem—Einstein Bots can do it in their sleep!

Available in: Einstein Bots is available in both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Setup for Einstein Bots is available only in Lightning Experience.

Bring Your Service Processes to the Console with Lightning Guided Engagement (Generally Available)

Guide agents through multi-step actions, like call scripts, right inside the console. A list of ordered flows keeps the process moving during agent handoffs—customers don’t have to repeat themselves because agents know exactly where to pick up. For folks using Live Agent chat, a new pinned region template lets your agents view the chat and list of flows at the same time. The best news is that all this awesomeness is configured with clicks, not code.

Available in: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Resolve Cases More Quickly with Flows and Case Teams in the Service Console

Add the Guided Action List component to record pages to display a list of flows that your agents can follow to resolve cases. Add agents to case teams to collaborate on case resolutions. You can also use the new Lightning Console JavaScript APIs to customize your console.

Available in: Lightning Experience in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions with the Service Cloud.
