Bookkeeping catch up – Now’s the time!

Summer’s scorching weather is over, the kids are back to school, things are settling into a routine, and you can catch your breath from the whirlwind of activity. It’s a nice lull, but year-end isn’t as far away as it seems. Now is a perfect time to make sure your routine bookkeeping is up-to-date, OR start making arrangements to bring it current.

Toward the end of the year, it’s easier to make strategic and tax-related decisions if your income and expense records are in order. You’ll be giving yourself the best opportunity to make skillful decisions about whether to make a last minute capital acquisition, or defer some expenditures to the new year (or to get good professional advice as to the actions you could take).

Sometimes all it takes to get caught up is to carve out a few minutes a day, or a few hours a week, and just power through it. If that’s your situation, get yourself on a schedule and go for it! But, if you’ve had staffing or procedural changes during the year, coming current might need a little more time and attention.
